Sugar poisons your blood!

At this time of the year we probably don't want to hear this but Christmas is the time when
we consume excess sugar, in drinks, baking, and sweets in general.

The drinking of acidic sugary beverages like soda pops may increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease, suggests new research. Although the exact mechanisms aren't known, the symptoms of obesity and diabetes are both associated with higher incidences of Alzheimer's.

Ling Li and her colleagues tested whether high sugar consumption in an otherwise normal diet would affect Alzheimer's progression. They used a genetic mouse model that develops Alzheimer's-like symptoms in adulthood, and over a 25 week period supplemented the regular, balanced diet of half the animals with 10% sugar water. Afterwards, they compared the metabolism, memory skills (by means of various mazes) and brain composition of the regular and sugar-fed mice. The acidic sugar-fed mice gained about 17% more weight than controls to buffer the excess acidity, had higher cholesterol levels, and developed insulin resistance. These mice also had worse learning and memory retention and their brains contained over twice as many amyloid acidic plaque deposits, an anatomical hallmark of Alzheimer's.Although the researchers were not certain if the increased mental impairment resulted specifically from the higher sugar intake or higher calories in general, these results to highlight the potential risk of ingesting any form of the acid called sugar. They note that the human equivalent of the mouse diet would be roughly 5 cans of soda pop per day, although since mice have a higher metabolism, it may actually take less sugar intake in humans.

According to Dr. Robert O. Young, at the pH MiracleLiving Center, "Alzheimer's is a direct result of dietary and metabolic acids fermenting or spoiling brain cells. Any sugar, including sucrose, fructose, maltose, dextrose, etc., have the potential to spoil or breakdown healthy cells, including brain cells leading to dementia.""The cure for dementia, including Alzheimer's is to maintain the alkaline design of the body and especially the brain. Sugar is an acidic poison that rots the brain. The breakdown products of sugar are acetylaldehyde and ethanol alcohol, two very strong nuero-toxins. If you want to have healthy blood, a healthy brain and a healthy body then you must stay away from eating or drinking any form of sugar," states Dr. Young.

Yes, it's your choice as to how much you indulge this Christmas, however, we want it to be happy for years to come!!

What is Live Cell Blood Analysis?

I get asked this question quite frequently. So today I will try to give you an overview
of my work with the blood.
Nutritional Live Cell Blood Analysis (NLBCA) involves he examination of a fresh drop of living blood under a high-power video-microscope that has a closed circuit video system. This projects the microscopic image onto a computer screen for simultaneous viewing by both the technician and the client. It is technically referred to as Dark field-Microscope Wet-Mount Examination of a Peripheral Blood Smear.

This is an excellent means of viewing by microscope the red blood cells, various types of white blood cells, platelets, and blood plasma, just as they function in the body. This analysis is a screeening test, using darkfield, 3 dimensional DIC, phase contrast and brightfield microscopy for the purpose of observing various conditions of your blood.

A drop of blood is taken from your finger and placed on a microscope slide for viewing. This drop of blood is magnified 1,000 times and then as a trained examiner, I can make observations as to the presence of: (yeast, fungus, parasites, and bacteria) active somewhere in your body, also damaged cells, cholesterol crystals, and uric acid crystals can then be identified.
The size and shape of red blood cedlls indicate nutritional deficiences, digestive problems, absorption problems, and the damaging effects of free radicals. Organ malfunction is also evident in this analysis.

This analysis is also excellent for determining whether the supplements you are taking
are benefiting your body.

BE GOOD TO YOURSELF!

The holidays are fast approaching, you may already be feeling the effects of all the planning and partying. If you want to stay balanced, relaxed and calm, it's necessary every so often to step back and decompress.
Treat yourself to a massage, meditate,
watch a movie, one that relaxes you and inspires you. Remember “things” will get
done – if they don’t it doesn’t matter!

Do you find that the demands on your time are overwhelming, don't be afraid to politely say "no" when someone asks you to do something. Learn your limits. You can't do it all and you shouldn't feel guilty about it. Be a little selfish once in a while by scheduling "me time" - it will help keep you in touch with yourself during the season ahead.

Watch your diet. Cut back as much as you can on “sweets”-- they stress the body. Over indulgence, whether it’s food or drink (the alcoholic kind) will make you tired. Drink lots of water --good water as alkaline as possible.
Get a little exercise –a nice walk will do. Embracing the Holiday Spirit is being who
you are with joy and grace.

TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH

This article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) is the best article I have ever seen written in the published literature documenting the tragedy of the traditional medical paradigm.

The author is Dr. Barbara Starfield of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and she describes how the US health care system may contribute to poor health.

ALL THESE ARE DEATHS PER YEAR:
* 12,000 -- unnecessary surgery
* 7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals
* 20,000 -- other errors in hospitals
* 80,000 -- infections in hospitals
* 106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs
These total to 225,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes!!

What does the word iatrogenic mean?
This term is defined as induced in a patient by a physician's activity, manner, or therapy.
Used especially of a complication of treatment.
Even with our Health Care System here in Canada, the
Percentages can’t be much better.

Take charge of your own health – be pro-active –
Investigate the alternatives.

TOOTHPASTE -By Mike Adams

Warning: Toxic chemical triclosan can turn your toothpaste into chloroform.

For years, I have warned people of the danger of personal care products. If you look at the ingredients manufacturers put in their products -- soaps, deodorants, toothpastes and so on -- you will be horrified. These ingredients are highly toxic and cause cancer. They promote leukemia, nervous system disorders and liver problems. Now, some new information has come from Virginia Tech. Researchers that have found that the chemical triclosan, which is found in a lot of antimicrobial soaps and toothpaste products, can react with chlorine in the tap water. Guess what you get? (This is the horrifying part.) Chloroform. This is a toxic chemical that can give you cancer. In the old movies, you might have seen someone give a person chloroform to knock them unconscious. If you breathe enough chloroform, you will die.
If you are brushing your teeth with toothpaste that has triclosan in it, and you are rinsing with tap water that has chlorine in it, you are getting a little chemical reaction right in your mouth. What a wonderful gift from the toothpaste manufacturers. That's not to mention that some of the toothpastes contain fluoride that isn't really fluoride but fluorosilicic acid, which is a toxic waste product that is molecularly similar to fluoride but has a much different effect on the human body -- a toxic effect. When you wash your hands with antibacterial soap that contains triclosan, you are getting the fumes emitted from this chemical reaction.

We need to return to simple non-toxic products for brushing our teeth. What about
sea salt and soda?

COUGHING - IS IT DUE TO IRON SHORTAGE? by Dr. Weil

If you’re female and have an unexplained persistent cough, you may be running short on iron. Researchers from Italy’s University of Turin came up with this finding on the basis of a small study of 16 women with chronic coughs that weren’t due to any identifiable health problems. Tests showed that all the women were iron deficient.

Supplements fixed that and also reduced or eliminated the coughing and related symptoms: swelling in the back of the mouth and red, inflamed mucous membranes. The researchers noted that women are more likely than men to have unexplained chronic coughs and, because of pregnancy and menstruation, are also more likely than men to be iron deficient. Iron helps regulate production of immune system proteins that control inflammation, so a deficiency can lead to inflammation in the upper airway and cause chronic coughing.

The study was presented at the scientific meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians in October 2007. Don’t take iron supplements without being tested for a deficiency, particularly if you’re post-menopausal (or male). Iron accumulates in the body and can harm the heart.

Liquid iron supplements tend to be assimilated more readily.

SHOCKING NEWS -Cancer Drug CAUSES Cancer

Can you imagine how many women have been set up to have a cancer re-occurance?

Tamoxifen is a drug that binds to your estrogen receptors. Therefore it was thought that it could prevent excess estrogen binding, hence halting cancer from forming. It is generally prescribed to high-risk women to prevent breast cancer, and is usually taken for five years.
However, Tamoxifen has been found to cause cancer instead.

According to a study published in the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, the treatment of breast cancer with tamoxifen results in an increased risk of uterine cancer incidence and mortality.
This is just one in a growing line of studies published, raising serious concerns about the increased risk of uterine cancer for women who take tamoxifen as a cancer preventive drug.
Despite these concerns, tamoxifen is still on the market.

What is the success rate of Chemotherapy?

The other day when I was in the grocery store I was asked to contribute to the Cancer Society. In all good conscience I could not contribute to such a useless cause when there are so many effective alternatives available.

It's probably time to examine the success rate of chemotherapy that has been used for so many decades. What is the success rate of chemotherapy as used by oncologists?
An important paper has been published in the journal Clinical Oncology addresses exactly this question. This meta-analysis, entitled "The Contribution of Cytotoxic Chemotherapy to 5-year Survival in Adult Malignancies" set out to accurately quantify and assess the actual benefit conferred by chemotherapy in the treatment of adults with the commonest types of cancer.
All three of the paper's authors are oncologists. Lead author Associate Professor Graeme Morgan is a radiation oncologist at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney; Professor Robyn Ward is a medical oncologist at University of New South Wales/St. Vincent's Hospital. The third author, Dr. Michael Barton, is a radiation oncologist and a member of the Collaboration for Cancer Outcomes Research and Evaluation, Liverpool Health Service, Sydney. Prof. Ward is also a member of the Therapeutic Goods Authority of the Australian Federal Department of Health and Aging, the official body that advises the Australian government on the suitability and efficacy of drugs to be listed on the national Pharmaceutical Benefits Schedule (PBS) – roughly the equivalent of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Their meticulous study was based on an analysis of the results of all the randomized, controlled clinical trials (RCTs) performed in Australia and the US that reported a statistically significant increase in 5-year survival due to the use of chemotherapy in adult malignancies. Survival data were drawn from the Australian cancer registries and the US National Cancer Institute's Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) registry spanning the period January 1990 until January 2004. Wherever data were uncertain, the authors deliberately erred on the side of over-estimating the benefit of chemotherapy.

Even so, the study concluded that overall, chemotherapy contributes just over 2 percent to improved survival in cancer patients!Yet, despite the mounting evidence of chemotherapy's lack of effectiveness in prolonging survival, oncologists continue to present chemotherapy as a rational and promising approach to cancer treatment. Give me a break!!

Vitamin D

Canadian Cancer Society announces national program to prevent cancer using vitamin D
Canada has done what the U.S. refuses to do: Protect the health of its people through a national program of encouraging vitamin D supplementation. While U.S. cancer groups like the American Cancer Society stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the benefits of vitamin D supplements in cancer prevention, the Canadian Cancer Society is launching a program to make sure every Canadian citizen receives a level of vitamin D sufficient to prevent most cancers, including breast cancer.

Do you want to know why?
I'll tell you why, and you won't like the answer. It's because the cancer industry depends on all 100 of those women being diagnosed with cancer and treated with profitable cancer "management" protocols like chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Preventing cancer in 75 percent of women (or more) would deny the cancer industry three-fourths of its revenue. It would shrink the industry, reduce funding, and result in a mass exodus of cancer jobs. Donations would dry up and cancer non-profits (which thrive on the continuation of cancer) would lose big. This is why they won't support cancer prevention that really works. Preventing cancer is simply not in the self interest of the cancer industry. Prevention is bad for business.

Not only will Vitamin D help prevent cancer, living an alkaline lifestyle is a certain way to
prevent cancer. Cancer cells cannot live in an alkaline terrain. The Cancer Society doesn’t
want to hear this information either.

Hello: I'm back

I took a short "time out" --was off to Vancouver to gain some further education.
Went to a "Matrix Energetics" workshop. Very leading edge stuff. After the workshop
we went visiting with friends. These days if you cross over from Vancouver Is. to
the mainland it has to be worth your while now that the ferry fees have gone up-up-up!!
Now for today's tip

Simple Stress Reliever
Looking for a simple, healthy way to help get through the day? Try breathing exercises – a wonderfully effective way to reduce stress, maintain focus, and feel energized. Exhaling completely is one breathing exercise to try – it can promote deeper breathing and better health. Give it a try: Simply take a deep breath, let it out effortlessly, and then squeeze out a little more.
Doing this regularly will help build up the muscles between your ribs, and your exhalations will soon become deeper and longer. Start by practicing this exhalation exercise consciously, and before long it will become a healthy, unconscious habit.

In love with your Cell Phone?

Then you won't want to hear this.

Research by University of Washington professor Dr. Henry Lai shows brain cells are clearly damaged by microwave levels far below the U.S. government's 'safety' guidelines. Dr. Lai notes that even tiny doses of radio frequency can cumulate over time and lead to harmful effects. He warns that public exposure to radiation from wireless transmitters 'should be limited to a minimum.'

Motorola advises consumers to avoid pointing a cellular antenna toward exposed parts of the body. But independent tests show that cell phones can also leak huge amounts of radiation from the keypad and mouthpiece. This radiation deeply penetrates brain, ear and eye tissues, which are especially susceptible to microwave damage. Belt clip cases allow cell phones to deliver radiation to the liver or kidney areas when a wired, hands-free earpiece is used.

Recent studies confirm that cell and cordless phone microwave can:. Damage nerves in the scalp . Cause blood cells to leak hemoglobin . Cause memory loss and mental confusion . Cause headaches and induce extreme fatigue . Create joint pain, muscle spasms and tremors . Create burning sensation and rash on the skin . Alter the brain's electrical activity during sleep . Induce ringing in the ears, impair sense of smell . Precipitate cataracts, retina damage and eye cancer .

Open the blood-brain barrier to viruses and toxins . Reduce the number and efficiency of white blood cells . Stimulate asthma by producing histamine in mast cells . Cause digestive problems and raise bad cholesterol levels . Stress the endocrine system, especially pancreas, thyroid, ovaries, testes.

My advice is -- if you can't be without your cell phone, use it as little as possible and keep
it away from your body when not in use.

ARE YOUR VITAMINS WORKING FOR YOU?

The functional condition of the cardio-vascular system, the immune system, digestion, liver and gland function, microbe (like bacteria, parasites and candida), toxins, stress, and free-radical damage can be seen through my microscope.

I use my microscope in evaluating the shapes, sizes and other properties of your individual blood cells to help reveal some startling nutritional disorders. Improper digestion for one. Improper digestion is linked to many chronic conditions from which you can suffer. Certain vitamin deficiencies can be detected by microscopy as well.

To fortify yourself against disease, you often take vitamins and supplements. But often these vitamins are assimilated only minimally and sometimes not at all. If your vitamins and foods you eat are doing what they should be, your blood cells should have good shape and size, something which can be detected under my microscope. If not, then your vitamins, supplements, or foods are not being assimilated. You can take all the supplements you want, but if you don't have the enzymes to catalyze absorption, OR your body is in need of detoxification, nothing will happen. Would you like to know for sure ?

Skin Care Product Ingredients to Avoid - By Gloria MacTaggart

A recent online article quoted a dermatologist's statement that just because something contains natural rather than artificial chemical ingredients doesn't mean that it's better for you and that those with sensitive skin should simply use mild, fragrance-free soaps, cleansers and lotions.

While it is true that some natural substances are toxic and some chemicals are not and that some people do have reactions to natural products, I would venture to say that, generally speaking, you're safer putting aloe vera on your skin, for example, than some of the commonly used chemicals. However, it can be difficult to tell which chemicals are dangerous and which ones aren't. The trick lies in choosing natural skin care treatment that is effective and avoids the major offenders.

What are the major offenders?
Although there are several chemicals to be avoided, two of the most prevalent are petroleum and propylene glycol.

Petroleum, petroleum jelly and mineral oil:Petroleum-based products are among the most commonly used ingredients in skin care treatment products - including many that are labeled 'natural'.
Many studies have verified these ingredients to be dangerous. For example, a hospital study showed that infants are 11 times more likely to get systemic candidiasis from the use of petroleum-based skin care products. The candidiasis stopped when the hospital discontinued use of the products. Another study, this one conducted by Columbia University, found that the breast tissue of women with breast cancer contained significantly higher levels of petroleum than women without breast cancer.Mineral oil is a by-product of the distillation process that turns petroleum into gasoline. It forms a film over the skin that gives the illusion of softness without actually changing anything about the skin. Like petroleum, it is not 'skin care treatment', it simply masks the skin's actual condition while clogging the pores, preventing the absorption of oxygen and moisture, and inhibiting the process of expelling toxic wastes.

Propylene glycol. The major ingredient in antifreeze, propylene glycol is used in skin care treatment products to facilitate the absorption of other ingredients and to prevent the product from melting or freezing in extreme heat or cold. The labels of many skin care products, natural and otherwise, now carry a notice stating that is does not contain propylene glycol. You will find many arguments that this product is safe: the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) warns propylene glycol users to avoid skin contact as it can cause liver and kidney damage, but some say that the MSDS refers only to highly concentrated forms of the chemical and that the amounts used in skin care products are relatively insignificant - which is true.

Nevertheless, a thorough review of government and industry research conducted and published by Scorecard designates propylene glycol as suspected of causing respiratory toxicity, skin or sense organ toxicity, immunotoxicity and neurotoxicity. Additionally, because propylene glycol facilitates absorption through the skin you absorb more of any other chemicals in the products. Its sister, ethylene glycol, is even worse. The level of toxicity in our environment has been the subject of many news stories, propositions for new laws - even the weather forecast includes an air quality index to let us know if it's safe to go out of our house. Anyone informed of these dangers would want to reduce their risk. Getting industry under control is obviously a long battle, but we can, at the very least, reduce exposure in our own household by avoiding those chemicals listed above and choosing safe natural skin care treatment products.

"WHOLE" SALT

Today I was reading an article about salt water by Richard A. Bowen. (http://healthtruthrevealed.com:80/full-page.php?id=10590122108&&page=article) He claims that salt water can be a great help to those of us who suffer from constipation. He also claims that salt water is great for detoxification of the body. I would agree whole heartedly with his statement. However, he did not make it extremely clear that it must be the “right” kind of salt that you use. Regular table salt purchased in the local grocery store will not do. It has had all the natural minerals stripped from it, leaving only sodium
chloride. You must use salt that is whole and unprocessed.

It is no coincidence that our body fluids are salted with sodium or that the ocean
is salted with sodium rather than some other element. Salt in its natural form is at
the foundation of life and without it we would die.
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, when you have sugar cravings it is not the
need for sugar but your need for salt. Take a small amount of salt and your
cravings will go away and you will have renewed energy.

If you want to have better bones and muscles – eat more salt.
Contrary to what we have been told, if you want to maintain
healthier blood pressure eat more of the right kind of salt, it must
be free from added iodine or caking agents. Your health depends on it.

Antibiotics Absorbed By Vegetables

Evaluating the impact of livestock antibiotics on the environment, University of Minnesota researchers have found that many vegetables uptake the antibiotics. The study, in the Journal of Environmental Quality, shows that food crops can readily accumulate antibiotics from soils spread with cattle manure.

The findings were based on a greenhouse study involving three food crops: corn, lettuce, and potatoes. The plants were grown in soil modified with liquid hog manure containing sulfamethazine, a commonly used veterinary antibiotic. The researchers found that the antibiotic was taken up by all three crops.

The antibiotic was found in the plant leaves and concentrations in the plant tissue increased as the amount of antibiotic present in the manure increased. Worryingly, it also diffused into potato tubers, which suggests that other root crops - such as carrots and radishes - may be particularly vulnerable to antibiotic contamination.

Mercury in Fish

The health harms of mercury are well known: mercury is a potent neurotoxin that accumulates in animals and the environment. Fetuses and young children are particularly vulnerable as mercury poisons the developing brain, causing delayed development, memory and attention problems, decreased IQ and mental retardation.

Higher doses similarly impair adults and can also increase the risk of heart attacks. It is estimated that up to 100,000 Illinois women have sufficiently high blood-mercury levels to put an unborn child at risk of developmental problems. People get most of their mercury from eating fish—and now tuna sushi, like canned tuna and many local sport fish, has been shown to be contaminated with too much mercury to be eaten safely on a regular basis.

Some Vitamin D Every Day Keeps Blood Pressure At Bay

Printed from:
The Times of India -Now Vitamin D has been found to affect your blood pressure
As blood levels of vitamin D drop, blood pressure increases, according to findings from a health survey.
The current analysis from the survey, which was conducted between 1988 and 1994, involved 12,644 adults in America aged 20 years and older, who had blood pressure recorded and vitamin D levels measured.
As reported in the American Journal of Hypertension, people with the lowest vitamin D levels had blood pressure that was slightly higher than those with the highest levels.

This relationship was strongest in subjects who were 50 years of age and older.
The authors of the study note that "vitamin D levels can easily, and cheaply , be increased by a modest increase in sun exposure or vitamin D supplementation.

NEW SYMPTOMS CAUSED BY DRUGS

Drug-induced illnesses are far more common than people, including doctors, would like to think. Elderly people suffer 9.6 million adverse drug reactions each year alone, although these symptoms show up in younger patients as well.
Many do not realize these reactions -- or "new" disease symptoms -- are in fact caused by a drug they're already taking, as most doctors do not explain possible side-effects to their patients.

For example, these common illnesses can be caused by pharmaceutical drugs:
Depression -- Accutane, Advil, Cipro, Inderal, Pepcid, Tagamet, Zantac
Psychoses/Hallucinations -- Benadryl, Celebrex, Dexatrim, Vioxx
Dementia -- Aldomet, Inderal, Tagamet, Xanax
Parkinsonism -- Cardizem, Haldol, Elavil, Risperdal, Thorazine

DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS THREATENED -Can Health Canada be far behind?

In June, the FDA announced new standards for dietary supplements that are supposed to improve consumer safety. In reality, the 800-page rule will likely interfere with business while intentionally eliminating various dietary supplement companies from the market.

Gone Within Five Years

The rule will be phased in over the next three years, and within five years half of the supplement industry could be gone or selling their products at significantly higher prices.
Independent analysis of the rule found that compliance costs will be 10 times the FDA estimates. The ruling surrounds the dietary supplement industry with regulations and requirements in excess of those imposed on the drug industry, and up to 50 percent of small companies will simply not be able to afford to comply.

“Hard Pressed to Continue to Operate”The FDA itself states in the rule that:
“Establishments with above average costs, and even establishments with average costs, could be hard pressed to continue to operate. Some of these may decide it is too costly and either change product lines or go out of business.”The rule will also raise the price of dietary supplements to consumers.
According to the FDA:“We expect that the majority of these costs will be borne by consumers of dietary supplements, who will likely respond to the increase in prices by reducing consumption.”

RISKS OF THE NEW FLUORESCENT LIGHT BLUBS

Push For Energy-Savings Ignores Mercury Disposal Hazards--
Reported By Joseph Farah --WorldNetDaily.com

WASHINGTON - Brandy Bridges heard the claims of government officials, environmentalists and retailers like Wal-Mart all pushing the idea of replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy-saving and money-saving compact fluorescent lamps. So, last month, the Prospect, Maine, resident went out and bought two dozen CFLs and began installing them in her home.

One broke. A month later, her daughter's bedroom remains sealed off with plastic like the site of a hazardous materials accident, while Bridges works on a way to pay off a $2,000 estimate by a company specializing in environmentally sound cleanups of the mercury inside the bulb.

GO ORGANIC by Dr. Weil

DID YOU KNOW ….
Eating fresh produce is the best way to obtain daily nutrients, but the pesticides used on many crops remain a major health concern. By choosing organic foods, you can reap the health benefits of fruits and vegetables without exposing yourself to potentially harmful chemicals. Make sure you purchase only organic varieties of the produce listed below. According to the Environmental Working Group, common growing practices make these crops the most likely to contain pesticide residues:
1. Apples
2. Bell Peppers
3. Celery
4. Cherries
5. Imported Grapes
6. Nectarines
7. Peaches
8. Pears

Sleep --Is it a problem for you?

Trouble Sleeping? Look at Your Diet

If you have ever eaten a big meal late in the evening and had trouble falling or staying asleep, consider these explanations, courtesy of DrWeil.

It is more difficult to digest food when lying down. Our digestive tracts work best when we are upright – sitting, standing or even walking. When you lie down after a meal, gravity can disrupt proper digestion; this can lead to acid reflux, or heartburn, which can hinder sleep.
Digesting food requires the body to expend energy. This can interfere with the relaxed metabolic state required for sleep.

Your best bet: eat large meals earlier in the day, when the body will best use the energy the food provides, and restrict any late-evening eating to small, healthful snacks.

Some Truths About Being Out In The Sun

How many people know that not getting enough sun KILLS 50,000 people from cancer deaths every year in the US alone?

Sunscreen actually promotes cancer by blocking your body's absorption of ultraviolet radiation, and therefore blocking the production of vitamin D in your skin.
Studies have shown that vitamin D can prevent as many as 77 of all cancers. In addition, most sunscreen lotions also contain cancer-causing chemicals.

A portion of the profits from the sale of these lotions is then donated to organizations such as the American Cancer Society, which in turn runs public service ads encouraging the use of sunscreens.
Proper nutrition is a better way to prevent sunburn then sunscreen lotion.

Cirrhosis of the Liver From a Soft Drink? -by Jon Herring

When the chemical preservative sodium benzoate mixes with ascorbic acid (vitamin C), benzene forms as a by-product. Benzene is an aggressive carcinogen, even in minute amounts.
That's why I strongly recommend avoiding fruit-flavored soft drinks, which are often made with both sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid.

But now there is news that sodium benzoate itself could be responsible for DNA damage. Peter Piper, an English professor of molecular biology and biotechnology at Sheffield University, has been studying this common preservative for the past seven years. When he tested the impact of the substance on living yeast cells, he was alarmed to find that the benzoate was damaging the "power station" of all cells, the mitochondria.
Speaking to The Independent, Piper said, "These chemicals have the ability to cause severe damage to DNA in the mitochondria to the point that they totally inactivate it: They knock it out altogether."
Damage the energy production capacity of a cell, and the cell will begin to malfunction in a serious way. Piper suggests that a number of conditions, including Parkinson's, cirrhosis of the liver, and accelerated aging, can be linked to this type of damage.

The bottom line is this. We really don't know what many of the "harmless" artificial ingredients and chemical preservatives in our food will do to us. In most cases, the long-term effects are unknown. So, as always, stick to whole, unprocessed foods as much as possible. And think twice - make that three times - about buying soft drinks that contain sodium benzoate.

Sinuses Stopped up?

Sinus problems aren't necessarily all in your head -. Endeavour to avoid polluted, dusty and smoky environments, as well as anywhere there is second hand smoke. If you can eliminate milk products from your diet. this includes staying away from prepared foods that list milk as an ingredient, this will cut down on the forming of mucous. Try this for about 60 days and see how you feel.

Adding vitamins C and E, which are antioxidants can help protect you from the damage caused by exposure to environmental toxins such as cigarette smoke and pesticides etc.

OBESITY EPIDEMIC

John Erb a research assistant at the University of Waterloo, who spent years working for the government, made an amazing discovery. While he was going through scientific journals from around the world, he noticed scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists have to create them. They make these obese creatures by injecting them with
MSG when they are first born. This triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates,
causing the rats (humans?) to become morbidly obese. In the scientific community they are called “MSG-Treated Rats”.

Look in your kitchen and see how many of your products contain this chemical.
Don’t end your search there. Ask questions at restaurants. Do menus have items
that contain this chemical? Ask to see their ingredient list. It shows up as MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein. Most of the fast food places use it in abundance.

Why do they put it in our food? Because it makes it taste good. It causes us to actually eat more ! Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance.

HEALTHY EYESIGHT -by Dr. Weil

If you or someone you know is getting on in years, you may want to consider supplementing with lutein. Lutein and another carotenoid, zeaxanthin, form the yellow pigment of the retina and absorb blue light, a potentially harmful component of sunlight.

There is very good evidence that the lutein in food helps protect against cataracts and macular degeneration, which are common, age-related eye disorders. It is one of the yellow and orange pigments found in many fruits and vegetables, including mangoes, sweet potatoes, watermelon, carrots, squash, tomatoes and dark, leafy greens (such as kale, collards and bok choy). The best thing you can do to prevent eye disorders is to make sure that your diet contains plenty of lutein-rich fruits and vegetables. To get zeaxanthin, orange bell peppers, oranges and honeydew melon are good additions to the foods listed above. If possible, always buy organic fruits and vegetables.

Vitamins for Healthy Eyes
Vitamins can be used prudently to supplement diets that are lacking in certain areas. Lutein and zeaxanthin in supplement form may be beneficial if your diet is not rich in antioxidant foods.

Recognizing A Stroke

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
Ask the individual to SMILE .
Ask the person to TALK .. to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. . . It is sunny out today)
Ask the person to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

{NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke}

If the person has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Pass on this information on it could save someone's life.

The Growing Acidity of Our Oceans is a Threat to ALL Life on Earth! - By Dr. Robert O. Young

The growing acidity in our ocean waters is a threat to mankind and will wipe out coral and many species of fish and other sea life if nothing is done soon.Extra carbon dioxide in the air caused by the burning of fossil fuels is not only spurring climate change, but is making the oceans more acidic and endangering the marine life that helps to remove carbon dioxide from the earth's atmosphere.

Marine scientists have become so alarmed that special briefings have been held for government departments. Carol Turley, head of science at Plymouth Marine Laboratory in England, warned of a "potentially gigantic" problem for the world."It is very urgent to warn people what is happening," she said. "Many of the species we rely on to eat, like cod, will disappear. In cartoon form, you could say people should prepare to change their tastes from cod and chips to jellyfish and chips. The whole composition of life in the oceans will change."Jerry Blackford, another of the authors of a paper presented to a climate change conference in Exeter, England, has modeled the effect on the oceans. He said: "Some scientists are saying that in 35 years all the coral reefs in the world could be dead - it could be less or more. Put it this way, my children may never get the opportunity to go snorkeling on a living reef. Certainly, my grandchildren won't."Although the phenomenon is caused by the excess acidity of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, it is not a "global warming" problem. It is more serious then that!

A simple chemical reaction between the acidic air and the alkaline sea starts the chemical and electrical attraction. With the sea being alkaline and the air being acidic, it pulls the carbon dioxide into its watery body causing an acidic decline in the pH and the potential death of the oceans! The oceans of the world are becoming cancerous!

Carbon dioxide mixed with water produces carbonic acid making the oceans more and more acidic and increasingly sick. For example, it takes thirty parts of alkalinity in the form of sodium bicarbonate to buffer or neutralize one part or one molecule of carbonic acid in order to maintain a pH of 8.2 - the healthy pH of our oceans. Thus, the chemistry to buffer carbonic acid in the oceans is a thirty to one ratio. This means that it is going to be virtually impossible to reverse this catastrophic situation unless we do something about decreasing the emissions of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere--and do it NOW!

***Did you know in the US there is a Pure Food & Drug Act of 100 years ago, which could stop the near total removal of the abundance of the mineral chromium from whole sugar and whole grain flour? The end products of bleached white, refined sugars and flours constitutes more than one third of the average American diet? This is why diabietes is running rampant in North America.
Chromium is a vital mineral in our diet.

VITAMIN B2

Vitamin B2, also called riboflavin, is a water-soluble vitamin present in most animal and plant tissues. It is one of the essential B vitamins, known to help support adrenal function, help calm and maintain a healthy nervous system, and facilitate key metabolic processes, including helping to turn food into energy. It is necessary for energy production and normal cell function and growth. It is also crucial in helping other B vitamins undergo the chemical changes that make them useful.

Emerging research shows that riboflavin can act as an antioxidant, potentially helping to prevent cancer and prohibit cholesterol buildup by controlling the proliferation of harmful molecules known as free radicals.. Keep in mind that riboflavin is easily destroyed by exposure to light. The recommended amount of 50 mg as part of a B-50 complex in a daily multivitamin is advised.
Riboflavin is not toxic when taken orally, as its low solubility keeps it from being absorbed in dangerous amounts from the gut [2]. Although toxic doses can be administered by injection[2], any excess at nutritionally relevant doses is excreted in the urine[3], imparting a bright yellow color when in large quantities

Riboflavin deficiency
Further information: Ariboflavinosis
Riboflavin is continuously excreted in the urine of healthy individuals[1], making deficiency relatively common when dietary intake is insufficient. However, Riboflavin deficiency is always accompanied by deficiency of other vitamins[1].
A deficiency of riboflavin can be primary - due to not getting enough of the vitamin from the diet - or secondary, which may be a result of conditions that affect absorption in the intestine, the body not being able to use the vitamin, or an increase in the excretion of the vitamin from the body..
In humans, signs and symptoms of riboflavin deficiency (ariboflavinosis) include cracked and red lips, inflammation of the lining of mouth and tongue, mouth ulcers, cracks at the corners of the mouth (angular cheilitis), and a sore throat. A deficiency may also cause dry and scaling skin, fluid in the mucous membranes, and iron-deficiency anemia. The eyes may also become bloodshot, itchy, watery and sensitive to bright light.

Sources:
Riboflavin is found naturally in asparagus, okra, chard, cottage cheese, milk, yogurt, meat, eggs, buckwheat and fish, each of which contain at least 0.1 mg of the vitamin per 3-10.5 oz (85-300 gram) serving[citation

GLUTATHIONE

Dietary and metabolic acids are the likely cause of brain lesions and the symptoms of dementia. One of the most powerful buffers to protect the brain from dietary and metabolic acid is the tri-peptide, glutathione.Glutathione is critically important to our brain as it is one of the most important brain antioxidants.

Glutathione helps preserve brain tissue by preventing damage from free radicals (acids). In addition to quenching dangerous acids, glutathione also acts to recycle vitamin E which also has the ability to reduce acidity in the brain. (Perlmutter D., BrainRecovery.com July 2004, 5th ed:13)

Autism - Medical literature documents that an out-fection can lead to a lowering of glutathione which participates in detoxification, interacts with metallothioneins, and supports many crucial aspects of immunity. A link between glutathione and autism regression may derive from the fact that transient or chronic intestinal problems can impair an infant's or toddler's nutritional status, thereby minimizing the levels of amino-acids required for the production of glutathione (McCandless, J. Children With Starving Brains. 2003, 2nd ed; 252)

- Parkinson's Disease - Glutathione helps to preserve brain tissue by preventing damage from free radicals (acids) and destructive chemicals formed by the normal processes of metabolism, toxic elements in the environment, and as a normal response of the body to challenges by acidic agents or other stresses. With the understanding that glutathione is important for brain protection and that this protection many be lacking in the brains of Parkinson's clients due to glutathione deficiency, it can be seen as very beneficial. (Di Monte DA, Cahn P, Sandy MS. Glutathione in Parkinson's Disease: A Link Between Oxidative Stress and Mitochondrial Damage? An Neurol. 32 Suppl; S111-115, 1992.)

This is a very important antioxidant. Be sure you are not deficient.

Diabetes and Stroke

Individuals diagnosed with the acidic condition of Type 2 diabetes are at double the risk of having an acid stroke compared to those without diabetes, according to new research from the University of Alberta.

It was found that the risk of a stroke is considered high within the first five years of treatment for Type 2 diabetes and more than doubles the rate of occurrence. Why? Because the treatments for diabetes are focused on the acidic effects (high or low blood sugar) that causes the symptoms of diabetes rather then the cause which are the acidic lifestyle and diet choices.

For this study, the researchers entered 12,272 subjects into a Type 2 diabetes cohort. All subjects were recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and had a mean age of 64 years. After five years of monitoring, stroke incidence rates were compared between the cohort and the general population."What we found is that 9.1 percent of the diabetes cohort had a stroke within the first five years of their diagnosis," Dr. Thomas Jeerakathil, an assistant professor in neurology, at the University of Alberta.

"We also found that compared to persons from the general population of a similar age, the relative risk for stroke was much greater in younger persons with diabetes than for older persons. As it has been more common to study stroke prevalence within 10 years after diagnosis, this is the first study to specifically examine stroke-related outcomes immediately after the diagnosis of and initiation of treatment for Type 2 diabetes.

Jeerakathil indicates it is possible that physicians are undertreating stroke risks because of a prevailing attitude among physicians and patients that the cardiovascular complications of diabetes occur long after diagnosis rather than in the first five years."We hope our findings will help to dispel the notion that the risk of stroke occurs only in the long term and will improve the motivation of both patients and healthcare providers to aggressively control cardiovascular risk factors soon after diagnosis." said Jeerakathil.

The research recently appeared in the American Heart Association's Stroke journal.

E-MAIL TRAP

A word to the wise. E-mail petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress or any other municipality. To be acceptable petitions must have signed signatures and your full address. Same with "prayer chains" -be wary.

Almost all e-mails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards.

All it was, and all this type of e-mail is, is to get names and "cookies" tracking info for tele-marketers and spammers to validate active e-mail accounts for their own purposes. Any time you see an e-mail that says forward this on to "10" of your friends, sign this petition, or you'll get good luck, or whatever, it has either an e-mail tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and e-mails of those folks you forward to, or the host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of "active" e-mails to use in spam e-mails, or sell to others that do.

Please forward this notice to others, if you want to, then you will be providing a good service to your friends, and will be rewarded by not getting 30,000 spam e-mails in the future. (If you have been sending out the above kinds of email, now you know why you get so much spam!)

Working in Dirt Can Actually Be Healthy!

Exposure to certain forms of soil bacteria can boost the immune system, which can in turn improve mood as effectively as antidepressant drugs.

Mice exposed to a benign soil microbe, Mycobacterium vaccae, performed better on a behavioral task commonly used to test the effectiveness of antidepressants.
The mice were placed in water and observed to see how long they continued swimming before giving up. The mice who had been exposed to Mycobacterium vaccae continued swimming for a much longer time.

These results are similar to those from a previous study, in which human cancer patients treated with the bacteria reported significant improvements in their quality of life.

Researchers suspect that the microbes are affecting the brain indirectly by causing immune cells to release chemicals called cytokines, which stimulate the production of the mood-regulating chemical serotonin.
The lead researcher on the study, Chris Lowry, added that, "These studies help us understand how the body communicates with the brain and why a healthy immune system is important for maintaining mental health.
They also leave us wondering if we shouldn't all be spending more time playing in the dirt."

Microwaving Your Food Isn't Safe -By Larry Cook

If you have ever wondered whether or not microwaved food is safe, here's an experiment you can do at home. Plant seeds in two pots. Water one pot with water that has been microwaved, the other with regular tap water. The seeds that received microwaved water won't sprout. If microwaved water can stop plants from growing, think of what microwaved food can do to your health!
TRY THIS TEST

In 1989, Swiss biologist and food scientist Dr. Hans Hertel studied the effects of microwaved food. Eight people participated in the study. For eight weeks, they lived in a controlled environment and intermittently ate raw foods, conventionally cooked foods and microwaved foods. Blood samples were tested after each meal. They discovered that eating microwaved food over time, causes significant changes in blood chemistry.

Grapefruit and Weight Loss

Researchers conducted a three-month study on 100 obese adults who were divided into three groups to see if eating grapefruit had an affect on weight loss. The first group ate half a grapefruit with each meal, three times a day, and lost 3.6 pounds on average. The second group of participants, who ate a similar diet without the grapefruit, lost only 0.5 pounds on average, and the third group drank grapefruit juice and lost 3.3 pounds on average. Individually, some participants who ate the grapefruit lost as much as 10 pounds, researchers say.

Results of the study also showed that the grapefruit group had reduced levels of insulin and glucose, which might be linked to weight loss. They believe the phytonutritients found in grapefruit affect the way the body deals with sugar and makes it less likely to be bound up to fat. This may help the body to use food for energy more efficiently and reduce the amount as stored fat, they explain. Because of this finding, researchers say eating grapefruit may help protect obese people from diabetes. (Telegraph.co.uk January 29, 20040

Dr. Robery O Young's research indicates that grapefruit helps to buffer excess acidity from the the foods we eat and the energy we consume and thus helps to lower acidic blood sugars. The body will only retain fat as a protection against acids in our lifestyle and diet that are not being eliminated through urination, perspiration, respiration or defication.

Grapefruits also contain a flavonoid naringine that helps to increase hematocrit or blood iron to normal levels in cases of anemia. Naringine is also effective in preventing cancer. Furthermore, narigine improves blood circulation, while pectin (a soluble vegetable fiber) unclogs arteries. The bitter flavor comes from limonene, a limonoid that gives grapefruit its proven anticarcinogenic properties.

The Art of NOT Being Offended

The Art of Not Being Offended
By Dr. Jodi Prinzivalli
There is an ancient and well-kept secret to happiness which the Great Ones have known for centuries. They rarely talk about it, but they use it all the time, and it is fundamental to good mental health. This secret is called The Fine Art of Not Being Offended. In order to truly be a master of this art, one must be able to see that every statement, action and reaction of another human being is the sum result of their total life experience to date.

In other words, the majority of people in our world say and do what they do from their own set of fears, conclusions, defenses and attempts to survive. Most of it, even when aimed directly at us, has nothing to do with us. Usually, it has more to do with all the other times, and in particular the first few times, that this person experienced a similar situation, usually when they were young.

Yes, this is psychodynamic. But let's face it, we live in a world where psychodynamics are what make the world go around. An individual who wishes to live successfully in the world as a spiritual person really needs to understand that psychology is as spiritual as prayer. In fact, the word psychology literally means the study of the soul.

All of that said, almost nothing is personal. Even with our closest loved ones, our beloved partners, our children and our friends. We are all swimming in the projections and filters of each other's life experiences and often we are just the stand-ins, the chess pieces of life to which our loved ones have their own built-in reactions. This is not to dehumanize life or take away the intimacy from our relationships, but mainly for us to know that almost every time we get offended, we are actually just in a misunderstanding.

A true embodiment of this idea actually allows for more intimacy and less suffering throughout all of our relationships. When we know that we are just the one who happens to be standing in the right place at the right psychodynamic time for someone to say or do what they are doing--we don't have to take life personally. If it weren't us, it would likely be someone else.
This frees us to be a little more detached from the reactions of people around us. How often do we react to a statement of another by being offended rather than seeing that the other might actually be hurting? In fact, every time we get offended, it is actually an opportunity to extend kindness to one who may be suffering--even if they themselves do not appear that way on the surface. All anger, all acting out, all harshness, all criticism, is in truth a form of suffering. When we provide no Velcro for it to stick, something changes in the world. We do not even have to say a thing. In fact, it is usually better not to say a thing.

People who are suffering on the inside, but not showing it on the outside, are usually not keen on someone pointing out to them that they are suffering. We do not have to be our loved one's therapist. We need only understand the situation and move on. In the least, we ourselves experience less suffering and at best, we have a chance to make the world a better place.
This is also not to be confused with allowing ourselves to be hurt, neglected or taken advantage of. True compassion does not allow harm to ourselves either. But when we know that nothing is personal, a magical thing happens. Many of the seeming abusers of the world start to leave our lives. Once we are conscious, so-called abuse can only happen if we believe what the other is saying. When we know nothing is personal, we also do not end up feeling abused. We can say, "Thank you for sharing," and move on. We are not hooked by what another does or says, since we know it is not about us.

When we know that our inherent worth is not determined by what another says, does or believes, we can take the world a little less seriously. And if necessary, we can just walk away without creating more misery for ourselves or having to convince the other person that we are good and worthy people.

The great challenge of our world is to live a life of contentment, regardless of what other people do, say, think or believe. The fine art of not being offended is one of the many skills for being a practical mystic. Though it may take a lifetime of practice, it is truly one of the best kept secrets for living a happy life.

If I don't eat dairy what will happen to my bones?

The truth is, the U.S., England and Sweden have the highest rates of osteoporosis in the world - and the highest level of dairy consumption. American women have been getting an average of two pounds of milk per day for their entire lives, including milk, ice cream, cream, yogurt, butter etc. which is measured in pounds. It takes 10 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of cheese, 12 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of ice cream and worse of all it takes 20 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of butter - all extremely acidic or better said concentrated acid - yet 30 million American women have osteoporosis.

Drinking milk does not prevent bone loss. That's because bone loss is caused by too much protein and sugar intake, like the protein whey and the sugar lactose in dairy.

Science magazine called dietary protein the most important contributor to osteoporosis in 1986. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1995 explained that "dietary protein increases production of acid in the blood which can be neutralized by calcium mobilized from the skeleton." A study in the Journal of Nutrition in 1981 found that doubling your protein intake doubled you calcium loss. And a 1979 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that even someone getting 1400 mg. of calcium daily can lose up to 4% of their bone mass each year on a high-protein diet. The key is not to keep drinking milk for the calcium (getting more and more protein all the while) but to reduce the excess protein in your diet so that the body has no need to leach calcium from the bones, weakening them.

To have healthy strong bones stop eating high levels of animal protein and start eating alkaline antioxidants to buffer dietary and metabolic acids, such as avocado and broccoli which have a high concentration of glutathione - the master antioxidant and protector of bones.

WHY ISN'T SUNLIGHT PROMOTED AS A NATURAL CURE?

The $10 million question of course is why aren't researchers promoting cures that are available for free?
Well, anyone dabbling in medical politics will know that the medical community doesn't really promote anything that it cannot invent and patent for financial gain. Given the large checkbooks of the pharmaceutical companies, it should not surprise us that they can control what press releases are published, and spend millions of dollars on advertising their drugs. When was the last time you saw a full-page advert for sunlight, being able to prevent or reverse cancer?

Instead, the medical community uses the full-page advertisement for high-profit prescription drugs that have negative side effects and actually kill people. If conventional medicine was not so interested in making profits from the drugs that they patents, then we would probably see much more information on how sunlight is a natural treatments and preventative for breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, and even diseases like osteoporosis and depression. Instead, however, the profiteers actually scare people away from the healing power of sunlight and discredit any person, who dares to talk and publish scientific information on sunlight and vitamin B. it is a sad state of affairs!

TOXIC DRINKS?

Stay away from sodium benzoate! It is a toxic acid with a pH of less then 2.5. It will destroy healthy cells and tissues and set the acidic stage for cancerous tissues.

See: http://news.independent.co.uk/health/article2586652.ece Caution: All soft or carbonated drinks may seriously harm your health because all soft or carbonated drinks are acidic with a pH below 3 and an ORP of +250 mV and above.

A new health scare erupted over soft drinks amid evidence they may cause serious cell damage. Research from a British university suggests a common preservative found in drinks such as Fanta and Pepsi Max has the ability to switch off vital parts of DNA.The problem - more usually associated with ageing and alcohol abuse - can eventually lead to cirrhosis of the liver and degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's.

The findings could have serious consequences for the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who consume fizzy drinks. The fizzy is carbonic acid which is also harmful for the body. They will also intensify the controversy about food additives, which have been linked to hyperactivity in children.Concerns centre on the safety of E211, known as sodium benzoate, a preservative used for decades by the £74bn global carbonated drinks industry. Sodium benzoate derives from benzoic acid. It occurs naturally in berries, but is used in large quantities to prevent mold in soft drinks such as Sprite, Oasis and Dr Pepper. It is also added to pickles and sauces. So stay away from pickles and sauces they too are highly acidic.Sodium benzoate has already been the subject of concern about cancer because when mixed with the additive vitamin C in soft drinks, it causes benzene, a carcinogenic substance. A Food Standards Agency survey of benzene in drinks last year found high levels in four brands which were removed from sale. Now, an expert in ageing at Sheffield University, who has been working on sodium benzoate since publishing a research paper in 1999, has decided to speak out about another danger. Professor Peter Piper, a professor of molecular biology and biotechnology, tested the impact of sodium benzoate on living yeast cells in his laboratory. What he found alarmed him: the benzoate was damaging an important area of DNA in the "power station" of cells known as the mitochondria. He told The Independent on Sunday: "These chemicals have the ability to cause severe damage to DNA in the mitochondria to the point that they totally inactivate it: they knock it out altogether. "The mitochondria consumes the oxygen to give you energy and if you damage it - as happens in a number of diseased states - then the cell starts to malfunction very seriously. And there is a whole array of diseases that are now being tied to damage to this DNA - Parkinson's and quite a lot of neuro-degenerative diseases, but above all the whole process of ageing.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) backs the use of sodium benzoate in the UK and it has been approved by the European Union but, MPs called for it to investigate urgently.Norman Baker, the Liberal Democrat chair of Parliament's all-party environment group said: "Many additives are relatively new and their long-term impact cannot be certain. This preservative clearly needs to be investigated further by the FSA."Sodium benzoate and carbonic acid needs no investigation - they are acidic and will compromise the delicate alkaline pH balance of the human body setting the stage for sickness, disease and death.A review of sodium benzoate by the World Health Organisation in 2000 concluded that it was safe, but it noted that the available science supporting its safety was "limited".Professor Piper, whose work has been funded by a government research council, said tests conducted by the US Food and Drug Administration were out of date. Are you surprised?"The food industry will say these compounds have been tested and they are complete safe," he said. "By the criteria of modern safety testing, the safety tests were inadequate. Like all things, safety testing moves forward and you can conduct a much more rigorous safety test than you could 50 years ago.

"He advised parents to think carefully about buying drinks with preservatives until the quantities in products were proved safe by new tests. "My concern is for children who are drinking large amounts," he said.Coca-Cola and Britvic's Pepsi Max and Diet Pepsi all contain sodium benzoate and carbonic acid. Their makers and the British Soft Drinks Association said they entrusted the safety of additives to the Government. Can you really trust the FSA or the FDA? (or Health Canada)

The bottom line, all soft or carbonated drinks are acidic and harmful to the body. A simple test will confirm this both in vitro and vivo.In vitro all you need to do is pour a soft or carbonated drink, like a Cola drink, on a piece of pork and watch the tissue dissolve and degenerate. You may even see parasites crawling out of the meat.

In vivo all you need to do is test the pH of your urine before you drink the the soft or carbonated drink and then test it after. What you will find is the pH of your urine will show a lower pH then before indicating the acidifying effects of the soft or carbonated drink on the fluids and then tissues of the body. Note: The urine pH is a direct indicator of tissue pH not blood pH. When the pH of the urine is below 7, that indicates latent tissue acidosis and is a reflection of what you are eating and drinking. Latent tissue acidosis always proceeds the sickness or dis-ease or compensated and then decompensated acidosis. The best indicator for excellent health, energy and vitality is the way you will feel when you discontinue drinking acidic fluids, like soft or carbonated drinks.

Could Drinking Alkaline Water from a Plastic Bottle Cause Men to Grow Breasts?

The answer is a big YES!
http://www.mindfully.org/Plastic/Plasticizers/BPA-Lab-Animal-CagesApr03.htm Polycarbonate, first introduced to caging in 1962, was the industry standard for 25 years and is still in wide use in animal facilities. The accidental exposure of high-temperature polycarbonate (polyphthalate carbonate) cages and water bottles in our facility to a harsh alkaline detergent intended for washing floors rather than cages resulted in degradation of the plastic polymer. The damaged caging materials (both cages and water bottles) leached high concentrations of the weakly estrogenic compound bisphenol A (4',4'-isopropylidenediphenol, hereafter referred to as BPA).The increase in the estrogen hormone in men can lead to breast enlargement.---------------------------------------------------------------Study Cites Risk of Compound in Plastic BottlesReport urges the EPA to restrict bisphenol A, found widely in liquid and food containersMARLA CONE:Los Angeles Times 13apr 2005---------------------------------------------------------------Evidence is mounting that a chemical in plastic that is one of the world's most widely used industrial compounds may be risky in the small amounts that seep from bottles and food packaging, according to a report to be published this week in a scientific journal.

The authors of the report, who reviewed more than 100 studies, urged the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to re-evaluate the risks of bisphenol A and consider restricting its use.Bisphenol A, or BPA, has been detected in nearly all humans tested in the U.S. It is a key building block in the manufacture of hard, clear polycarbonate plastics, including baby bottles, water bottles and other food and beverage containers. The chemical can leach from the plastic, especially when the containers are heated, cleaned with harsh detergents or exposed to acidic foods or drinks. The chemical is the focus of a contentious debate involving industrial compounds that can mimic acidic sex hormones. Toxicologists say that exposure to man-made hormones skews the developing reproductive systems and brains of newborn animals and could be having the same effects on human fetuses and young children.Since the late 1990s, some experiments have found no effects at the doses of BPA that people are exposed to, and others have suggested that the chemical mimics estrogen, blocks testosterone and harms lab animals at low doses. Plastics industry representatives say the trace amounts that migrate from some products pose no danger and are far below safety thresholds set by the EPA and other agencies. In the new report, to be published online in Environmental Health Perspectives, scientists Frederick vom Saal and Claude Hughes say that as of December, 115 studies have been published examining low doses of the chemical, and 94 of them found harmful effects.

In an interview with Vom Saal, a reproductive biologist at University of Missouri in Columbia, said there is now an "overwhelming weight of evidence" that the plastics compound is acidic and harmful."This is a snowball running down a hill, where the evidence is accumulating at a faster and faster rate," Vom Saal said."You can't open a scientific journal related to sex hormones and not read an article that would just floor you about this chemical.... The chemical industry's position that this is a weak chemical has been proven totally false. This is a phenomenally potent chemical as a sex hormone."In their study, Vom Saal and Hughes suggest an explanation for the conflicting results of studies: All 11 of those funded by chemical companies found no risk, while 90% of the 104 government-funded, non-industry studies reported harmful acidic effects.

One report, released by the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis last fall and funded by the American Plastics Council, concluded that "the evidence is very weak" that BPA has acidic estrogen effects on males. The scientists at Harvard reviewed the results of 19 experiments on male animals published before April 2002 and found no consistent findings. However, Vom Saal said, the Harvard report was prepared before at least 60 other studies found harmful effects in lab animals, and it was too narrowly focused because it looked at effects in males only.Steven G. Hentges, executive director of the polycarbonate business unit of the American Plastics Council, said Tuesday that unlike the Harvard report, the new report lists numbers of studies and pieces of data without analyzing them to determine their strengths or weaknesses and whether they are relevant to human beings."The sum of weak evidence does not make strong evidence," Hentges said. "If you look at all the evidence together, it supports our conclusion that BPA is not a risk to human health at the very low levels people are exposed to. This paper does not change that conclusion. It has an opinion, not a scientific conclusion."Vom Saal and the plastics industry have been in an escalating battle since 1997, when Vom Saal became the first researcher to reveal effects in mice exposed to low doses of BPA. His discovery triggered new scientific studies by industry and government.

The chemical, used in polycarbonate plastics manufacture for half a century, is not subject to any bans, even in Europe, which has prohibited many hormone-disrupting compounds. The EPA last evaluated its risks in the 1980s, and a review by the European Union was published in 2003.In California, the Legislature is considering a bill, introduced by Assemblywoman Wilma Chan (D-Alameda), chairwoman of the Assembly's Health Committee, that would ban products intended for children that contain BPA or other compounds called phthalates, used in some plastic toys. The plastics industry says there is no scientific basis for removing the chemicals from children's products.Polycarbonate plastics, which are useful in items such as baby bottles because they are durable, lightweight and shatter-resistant, cannot be made without BPA. Hentges said the products have had "a strong and long safety record" for more than 50 years. In addition to its use in hard plastics, BPA lines food and beverage cans and is found in dental fillings and sealants, including some used to prevent cavities in children. Some government-funded tests on rodents exposed to low levels have reported decreased testosterone, enlarged prostates and lower sperm counts in newborn males and early puberty and disrupted hormonal cycles in females. They also have reported hyperactivity and other neurological changes in lab animals.
This is why Dr. Robert O.Young made the decision to move away from plastics, including polycarbonate plastics when bottling pH Miracle Water in amber and blue glass. It is always best to drink your pH Miracle Water or your green drinks from a glass bottle.

SOY ALERT

May 11, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VEGAN PARENTS JAILED FOR BABY'S DEATH SOY EXPERT CALLS FOR SOY MILK MANUFACTURERS TO PROPERLY WARN PARENTS ABOUT THE DANGERS OF SOY MILK FOR BABIES
The murder conviction this week of vegan parents whose six-week old baby died of starvation underscores the dangers to infants of vegan ideology. To supplement the mother's inadequate supply of breastmilk, the parents had fed their son soy milk and apple juice. The baby was only 3 ½ pounds when it died of starvation in April 2004.

“Soy milk should never be given to infants in place of formula, ” says Kaayla T. Daniel, PhD, author of The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food. “In 1990, the FDA issued a warning about the use of soy milk for infants stating that it is 'grossly lacking in the nutrients needed for infants' and asked all manufacturers to put warning labels on soy milks so that they would not be used as formula substitutes.” Yet most makers of soy milk put warning labels on the package in very tiny print, if at all.

The Atlanta conviction follows two other cases of vegan parents found guilty of the deaths of their babies. Previously, a New York couple was convicted of murder and a Florida couple of manslaughter. Many more babies, however, have been malnourished on soy milk because of their parents' vegan ideology. In 1990 the FDA investigated after a two-month old girl in California was hospitalized with severe malnutrition. Her parents had fed her EdenSoy brand soy milk instead of infant formula. Because of this and a similar incident in Arkansas involving the SoyMoo brand of soy milk, the FDA issued a warning on June 13, 1990. Since then, most brands of soy milk – but not EdenSoy – include warning labels in tiny print on their packages.
“The FDA told manufacturers to put warning labels on packages of soy milk for a very good reason. Soy milk can put an infant's life in jeopardy,” says Dr. Daniel. “The myth that soy is a health food has led many parents – particularly vegans who use no animal products -- to believe that soy milk is a complete and nourishing food not only for adults but for babies and children. It is not, and severe vitamin, mineral, fatty acid and amino amino acid deficiencies will occur. That's why supplements are required by law to be added to soy infant formula.”
“The tragedy is that this baby died because its vegan parents thought they were doing a good thing for their baby by choosing organic soy milk instead of a commercial soy formula. The mother had clearly tried to breast feed as well, but like many vegans she had an inadequate supply of breast milk because of the limitations of her diet and depletion of her own nutritional stores because of pregnancy. Supplementing breast milk with soy milk and apple juice could not support the life and growth of her baby boy,” Dr. Daniel says.
In Fall 2003, soy formula caused the deaths of three babies and brain damage to at least four other babies in Israel. The infants were using Remedia brand formula that was seriously deficient in vitamin B1 because its manufacturer had failed to add it. Soy milk – as was given by the convicted vegan parents to the dead baby – does not contain added B-1 or other of the essential supplements needed to nourish growing babies.

The deaths of the three Israeli infants from the improperly manufactured soy formula in 2003 led the Israeli Health Ministry to form a 13-member committee of pediatricians, oncologists, toxicologists and other health experts to investigate soy formula and soy foods. In July 2005, the Ministry issued a health advisory, in which it warned that babies should not receive soy formula (except as a last resort) and that children up to age 18 should not eat soy foods or drink soy milk more than once per day to a maximum of three times per week. The Ministry was concerned about many health issues, including adverse effects on fertility and increased cancer risk. The UK, Swiss and New Zealand governments have also warned that soy infant formula should only be used as a last resort.

And soy milk should never be used at all.
“The myth that soy is a health food can have tragic consequences for infants and children,” says Dr. Daniel. “Here in the U.S. soy milk sales are experiencing double digit growth and soy infant formula now represents 25 percent of the bottle-fed market. It's time that the soy industry act responsibly and put prominent warning labels on its all products about the dangers to babies before more tragedies occur.”
“It is irresponsible for soy milk manufacturers not to prominently place warning labels on their products, alerting vegan parents to the very real danger of feeding these products to their infants. How many unnecessary and tragic deaths will occur before these actions are taken?”

More Harm Than Good

How is it that regulatory agencies pretend that vitamins are dangerous, yet ignore published statistics showing that government-sanctioned medicine is the real hazard? Until very recently, no one had ever analyzed and combined all of the published literature dealing with injuries and deaths caused by government-protected medicine. A group of researchers meticulously reviewed the statistical evidence and their findings are absolutely horrifying: today’s medical system that misprescribes and overprescribes medication frequently causes more harm than good. According to the research findings, the number of people having in-hospital, adverse reactions to prescribed drugs is 2.2 million per year. The number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections is 20 million per year. The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million per year. The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization annually is 8.9 million per year. The most stunning statistic, however, is that the total number of deaths caused by conventional medicine is an astounding 783,936 per year. Let’s repeat that last sentence again: 783,936 deaths caused by conventional medicine every year. That makes conventional medicine the leading cause of death and injury in America today!.
